Have you ever considered creating a youtube channel?
This is for you! A few months ago I recall having only a mere 10 subscribers. As a flourishing multidisciplinary creative artist, I posted a few of my singles in hopes of reaching an audience that would resonate with my music. My main goal with my channel really is to create a space where I can share my passion for poetry and music. I’ve been creating poetry for 10+ years which naturally led me to consider monetizing my craft. Where do I even begin? This may be the question that lingers on your mind. This may even be the same question that has led you to pump the breaks on a potentially profitable venture.
What is your niche?
When I was doing my own research on building an organic following I realized the importance of focus. Focusing on a specific niche that is. I consider myself a jack of all trades so this has been a learning curve for me. As a creative, I want to do it all. You may be the same and honestly, I can’t blame you. I decided to create a short but all-encompassing youtube banner for what I intended to share on my journey as a new YouTuber as well a photo of me from a recent modeling shoot. The banner reads ‘ poetry, lifestyle, and vlogs’. For those of us who want to cover a wide range of topics, this helps you gain more clarity while also attracting a diverse range of subscribers.
Challenges I faced & overcame.
Some of the challenges I ran into were mainly scheduling. I thought I’d be able to create a working schedule to create more content but unfortunately, I had to consider my full-time job as well as my other creative endeavors. I decided that keeping a weekly and monthly calendar served to be useful. I could set specific days for posting a vlog or even blogging.
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
You probably have heard this phrase before. This phrase has been used and applied to a multitude of areas. When I stayed on my set schedule I was able to see the growth right away. I found myself more inspired to vlog. I felt as though by building this momentum I could come up with ideas even on the days I didn’t record. Start today!
